Louis Theroux’s New Series Starts On RTÉ Tonight And It Might Be His Most Awkward Yet

James Fenton

It’s hard enough to keep one steady relationship together but you ain’t seen nothing if you haven’t tried polyamory.

This is the world Louis Theroux explores when he returns to RTÉ tonight with his latest series Altered States. The first episode sees everyone’s favourite documentary maker turn up in Portland, Oregon to hang out with people who are in polyamorous relationships, i.e. living with one partner and regularly seeing others, or in some cases being a part of a ‘throuple’ –  a three-person couple, natch.

In the trailer (below) you can see Louis being placed into some uncomfortable-looking situations (be warned, there’s a lot of skin on show) but it definitely looks like it makes for great TV. Reviews have been positive since it aired on BBC in November and you can catch Love Without Limits, the first of the three-part Altered States series tonight on RTÉ 2 at 9.35pm.
