TV Egghead Arrested On Suspicion Of Murder

Quiz aficionados, we hope you’re sitting down. 

CJ de Mooi, star of cult BBC2 show trivia show Eggheads has been arrested on suspicion of murder. 

A warrant had been issued in the Netherlands for the 46-year-old’s arrest, and he was arrested at Heathrow Airport on Wednesday.

de Mooi, real name Joseph Connagh, had previously revealed in his autobiography that he suspected he killed someone while he lived on the streets of Amsterdam two decades ago.

He claims to have punched a man and threw him in a nearby canal, stating:

“He caught me on the wrong day and I just snapped. I fully suspect I killed him. I’ve no idea what happened to him.”

The professional quizzer joined Eggheads in 2003 after appearing  on numerous other game shows including The Weakest Link, Fifteen to One, and Countdown.
