We’re now in the home stretch, with the referendum to repeal the eighth amendment taking place this Friday, and both sides are making one last big push to make sure their voices are heard.
In the last few days alone, Irish celebrities like Father Ted creator Graham Linehan and comedian David O’Doherty have taken to social media to appeal to undecided voters to vote Yes and give Irish women the right to make their own choice.
The latest Irish celebrity to contribute their say is The IT Crowd star Chris O’Dowd, who passed his message onto Roscommon Together For Yes to share on their Twitter page.
Having grown up in Boyle, the actor’s message was meant specifically for the people of Roscommon…

When he says “let’s be on the right side of history this time”, O’Dowd appears to be referring the fact that Roscommon-South Leitrim was the only constituency in Ireland to vote No on the marriage equality referendum back in 2015.
