WATCH: Given And Keane Show Ireland What They’re Missing With Moments Of Brilliance Today

James Fenton

When it comes to loyal servants to the Republic Of Ireland cause, fans can’t really speak higher of Robbie Keane and Shay Given. Our two most-capped players, Keane (146 appearances) and Given (134 appearances), the pair went through the mill for Ireland time and time again over the years.

Since both retired from the international fold recently, the Ireland squad has been struggling to achieve results and we reached a particularly low ebb by losing 4-1 to Wales on Thursday night.

If the two lads ever wanted to come back they did their chances no harm today. Playing in A Match For Cancer, a charity game in aid of Stiliyan Petrov Foundation and the James Milner Foundation, the two veterans reminded fans of how good they were with individual moments of brilliance.

During the match, which took place at Celtic Park in Glasgow, 42-year-old Given pulled off a wonder save in the 18th minute…

Before 38-year-old Keane got his name on the scoresheet with a brilliant dummy and finish….

Talk about rolling back the years. Any chance you’d line up for us against Poland on Tuesday, lads?
