Say what you like about Conor McGregor but there’s no denying that he’s a source of inspiration to many young people both in Ireland and around the world.
Given the Dubliner’s brash persona, it’s not often that you see him impressed by the achievements of others but that’s exactly how he felt when meeting 16-year-old Ian O’Connell who was left paralysed from the shoulders down after an accident.
McGregor posted a moving tribute to the youngster on Instagram and now footage has emerged of the meeting between the pair. Conor is seen telling Ian that he was “blown away” after seeing Ian’s appearance on The Late Late Show on Friday night.
The fighter was particularly moved by Ian’s motto “if I can’t stand up, I’ll stand out” and told him that it was an honour to meet him at the MMA event last night. The clip was posted by Conor McGregor News on Twitter and can be viewed in full below.
