Today marks International Women’s Day and that means all over the world women are being celebrated in a variety of ways including this gesture made by Aer Lingus.
Sport is just one of the many areas of society where women are yet to receive full equality and the issue was highlighted in this video produced by Three for The Football Association Of Ireland.
It features members of the Republic Of Ireland Women’s soccer team laughing off idiotic tweets aimed at belittling their achievements and generally comparing women’s football unfavourably to the men’s game.
Niamh Fahey, Sophie Perry, Amber Barrett and Claire O’Riordan are all involved in the short clip which is punctuated by footage of the girls strutting their stuff on the pitch.
