If you’ve found yourself being sceptical about the power of the World Cup then this video should be enough to convert you.

Schoolchildren in Uruguay took some time off from their classes yesterday to take in their country’s Group A encounter with Egypt. After a fairly tame 88 minutes, it looked like the match was heading towards a 0-0 draw until defender José Giménez popped up with a late header.

Cue ecstatic celebrations as the kids jump for joy before running out into the playground in a moment that has taken Twitter by storm.
