The Most Popular Day To Give Up Dry January Is Fast Approaching

Megan Cassidy

It’s… TREEEEEAT TIME!!

Yep, it’s officially treat time for the people of Ireland who are now thoroughly fed up of their New Year’s resolutions, according to a recent survey by Deliveroo. (Convenient for them, we know).

This Wednesday is a double hump day – it’s the middle of the week and the middle of the worst month of the year, meaning people are twice as likely to reach for the wagon wheels and screw the new year’s health goals.

Wednesday evening at 18.34 will be Treat Time for the nation, as the Hump of the week and Hump of the month take their toll on our taste buds. Deliveroo has revealed that data from 2018 has shown that on January 16th orders of alcohol and sweet treats see a significant increase at this exact time.

As well as identifying the time and day of our #NewYearNewMe defiance, Deliveroo has also revealed the Irish cities with the sweetest tooth:

When it comes to booze, Deliveroo saw a spike of 67% in prosecco, wine and beer orders during December but demand plummeted by 49% from January 1st, with many deciding to take part in Dry January.

Though it seems that two weeks, one day, eighteen hours and thirty four minutes is enough for Irish January teetotalers.

Joe Groves at Deliveroo said, “We sincerely wish everyone the best of luck with their New Year’s Resolutions. Deliveroo provides a wealth of options for all Resolution revellers, whether they’re striving towards alcohol, meat or sugar-free goals.

However, if you do find yourself falling off the wagon and being consumed by cravings today, at least you can order directly to your house so no one has to know!”

That Joe is some chancer!
