WATCH: ‘Dreams Come True’ For Irish Boy As He Enjoys A Kickabout With Chelsea Star

James Fenton

It’s fair to say that footballers sometimes get a bad rap in the press but every now and again a story comes out that shows they’re a pretty decent lot all round. We’ve covered a few examples before, like when James McClean stepped in to help out a team made up of children with Down Syndrome in his native Derry. Or when Everton FC gave a young Irish lad the day out of a lifetime earlier this year.

Another lovely gesture occurred earlier this week outside Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge stadium in London when a young boy from Tyrone got to show off his skills to one of the biggest stars in the Premier League. Bernie McGee and her son Daniel traveled over to watch The Blues in action against Burnley and got plenty more than they bargained for when they bumped into midfielder Willian in the car park outside the ground.

Not one to turn down a kickabout, the Brazilian joined Daniel for a game of keepy-uppy which was filmed by the youngster’s mam along with the caption ‘It’s not every day your son gets to kick ball with this man. Thank you Willian for making my sons dreams come true. We came over from Ireland so Daniel could see his 1st Chelsea game. What a weekend! Icing on the cake was this!!’

Whatever about Willian, Daniel’s talents with a ball are there for all to see. The video has since gone viral and was reshared by the official Chelsea account who wrote ‘Great skills!’ along with a clapping emoji.

A day young Daniel will never forget, that’s for sure.
