They’ve reunited with their Spider-Man for this new movie.
How do you follow up two of the biggest movies ever made?
Avengers: Infinity War made $2.048 billion at the worldwide box office, and it was followed up by Avengers: Endgame, which made $2.798 billion at the box office, currently sitting pretty at the number one spot in the all-time worldwide box office charts.
Once you’ve made – literally – the biggest movie of all time, what do you do next?
Well, the directing duo that is The Russo Brothers wisely didn’t try to outdo themselves and go bigger, and went much smaller (well, compared to the Avengers movies), and brought along one of their Avengers to help them do it.
Cherry is based on a true story, focusing on an Army medic (played by Tom Holland) with PTSD, who becomes addicted to opioids and starts robbing banks to pay for the addiction.
The movie features two Irish stars – Jack Reynor (What Richard Did) and Fionn O’Shea (Normal People) – but really, all eyes are on Cherry to see what Anthony and Joe Russo will do outside of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
But it looks like they won’t be able to leave it fully behind, because as with this movie and still working with an Avenger, they’ve already lined up their next directing project – a spy thriller titled The Gray Man – which features none other than Captain America himself Chris Evans in the lead role.
Cherry is due to be released in cinemas on February 26 (which seems unlikely over here), before arriving on Apple TV+ on March 12, and you can check out the trailer right here:
