It’s no secret that 2016 has been a year of ups and downs…

However, it’s all up, up, up from here, as the best Irish Facebook videos of the past 12 months have been revealed.

And they’re all crackers. Check them out for yourself.

1. The Byrne Brothers dancing in Eyre Square

Good craic, fine dancing and deadly music all ’round.

2. Another Irish dancing video

Leppin’ around like mad yokes.

3. This super sweet clip of Ronan Keating and his daughter duetting

For his little girl’s birthday. What a DOTE.

4. And finally, this Mrs. Brown’s Boys Live Sketch

Over 11 minutes of pure, unadulterated Irish humour.

Gareth Lambe, Head of Facebook Ireland said:

Every day people turn to Facebook to connect with their friends and family on the issues and events that matter most to them. The range of topics in this year’s top ten shows the breadth of subjects discussed on Facebook, from elections to major sporting events and, of course, key moments on the Irish calendar like the All-Ireland finals.

It was a big year for politics and it is no surprise that the top three most talked-about topics were the Irish and US elections and Brexit. During the summer, we had the Euros and Olympics – at which Ireland was well represented by both our athletes and supporters – with many stand-out moments captured on Facebook.

The Easter Rising appears on the list demonstrating how people across Ireland took to Facebook to share their thoughts, videos, photos and experiences of the centenary celebrations.

The 10 most talked about moments of the Facebook year in Ireland were:

  • US Presidential Election
  • Irish General Election
  • Brexit
  • Olympics
  • Euro 2016
  • David Bowie
  • Easter Rising
  • GAA All-Ireland Final 2016
  • Rose of Tralee
  • Six Nations Championship

Are you surprised by the top 10?
