Irish men aren’t exactly known for being the most romantic, and especially not when it comes to the big question of asking someone to spend the rest of their lovely life with them.

Case in point: My father literally proposed to my mam in a carpark. Seriously. (He swears it’s because he was too nervous to do it in the actually restaurant but we will never know for sure).

Sure don’t all you have to do is get a shiny ring and pop down on one knee? No. Make it a little bit special PLEASE – people are going to want to hear the story a gazillion times so it better be a good ‘un.

One guy though, really got the memo and pulled out allll the stops.

Shane McInerney from Galway, is a professional footballer who’s been living in Florida for the past five years, where he met Julia, a yoga instructor.

They moved from America to Sweden and back again, and Shane recently decided it was high time they made things official. He hired a photographer in secret, brought Julia to the beach under the guise of making a promotional yoga video for her business, and popped the big Q.

And it’s honestly so adorable <3
