Grab your Kleenex guys, cause this one’s a tearjerker.
The Melbourne Cup, Australia’s biggest race, saw Almandin, ridden by Australian Kerrin McEvoy, narrowly pinching the victory from the Irish trained Heartbreak City.
With that, comes the grand total of a A$3.6m (£2.25m; €2.50m) prize.
Second prize, however, A$900k to be exact, is now in the possession of a few Irishmen, after Meath based trainer Tony Martin helped to guide Heartbreak City to second place.
