Arguably with one of the most distinctive voices in the biz, Whoopi Goldberg has been in everything from Sister Act to The Little Rascals (she plays Buckwheat's mom) and now she's lent her voice to the Harry Potter audiobook.
The latest in a string of well-known actors, celebrities and performers to get involved in the project, Whoopi has signed on to read the tenth chapter of the first Harry Potter book (Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone - shame on you if you didn't know that one). Part of the newly launched Harry Potter At Home Hub, the audiobook is available on the website or on Spotify.
The boy who lived, Mr Daniel Radcliffe himself, kicked things off by reading chapter one followed by Noma Dumezweni and Eddie Redmayne who read chapters two and three respectively. Other big names to help bring the story to life include Stephen Fry, Simon Callow, Evanna Lynch, Bonnie Wright, the Broadway cast of The Cursed Child, Olivia Colman, Jonathan Van Ness, Kate McKinnon, Alia Bhatt, Alec Baldwin, Dan Fogler and Alison Sudol. Quite an all-star line-up I think you'll agree.
With 17 chapters in total, it remains to be seen who else will get involved but if you're reading this Ms Rowling (wishful thinking) might I suggest Morgan Freeman or David Attenborough?
