In the build-up to the World Cup, RTÉ announced an all-star panel of experienced and fresh-faced pundits to guide viewers through all the goings-on in Russia this summer.
The list included the name of Hope Solo, a former U.S. Women’s international goalkeeper who in recent years has had some issues with the law (more of that explained here).
However, a fortnight after the announcement of RTÉ’s line-up, and six days into the tournament, Solo has yet to make an appearance on-screen. Viewers have already seen contributions from a whole host of names including Eamon Dunphy, Damien Duff, Didi Hamann and Stephanie Roche to name but a few and fans on Twitter are starting to wonder if Solo is ever going to show up…

Has @hopesolo featured on RTE yet? Seems like they signed her up for US matches and later realised they didn’t qualify. @RTEsoccer #COLJPN

Guess you could say RTÉ’s World Cup coverage has been Hopeless so far. With just under a month to go in the tournament, we’re sure she’ll will make an appearance eventually. In the meantime, we’ll have to make do with Dunphy et al.
