Dublin’s New Year’s Festival is back and better than ever this year, here’s what’s in store…

With the New Year clearly in sight, it might be time to start putting some plans in place to see out 2022.

If you’re hoping to celebrate in Dublin this year, the good news is you’re spoiled for choice when it comes to exciting events and live entertainment, making it the perfect spot to kick off the new year on the right note.

This year’s New Year’s Festival, Dublin is the ultimate way to kickstart 2023, featuring a stellar line-up of Irish musical talent and a whole host of fun events. From family-friendly performances to brilliant live gigs, there’s something for everyone in this year’s itinerary, making it the perfect way to kickstart 2023.

With that in mind, here’s a closer look at this year’s full festival line-up…

Fun for all ages at the Midnight Family Matinée

The celebrations start early on 31 December with the Midnight Family Matinée, offering a carnival-like atmosphere for all ages and some stellar live entertainment to see out 2022.

Headlined by Gavin James with support from Lyra and Brad Heidi, this event features a special early countdown event for little ones, ensuring festival-goers of every age can enjoy some New Year’s Eve magic. The family-friendly event will kick off at 4pm at North Wall Quay, leading to the earlier countdown spectacle at 7pm.

Ring in the new year with Westlife

As the evening creeps closer to midnight, some top Irish acts will be taking the stage to countdown to the new year. Support acts Gavin James and Lyra are both lined up to perform in the afternoon, seeing out 2022 with some unmissable live performances.

Following that, Westlife is the headline act of this year’s New Year’s Festival, Dublin. The lads are set to take the Festival Village stage to ring in 2023, performing some of the group’s top hits as the clock creeps closer to midnight.

The main stage concert will kick off at 8pm with support acts, followed by Westlife later in the evening. Tickets are available here.

Kickstart 2023 with some New Year’s Day celebrations

The celebrations continue on to 1 January with a whole host of New Year’s Day events and activities taking place in the city centre.

On New Year’s Day, an afternoon of live music takes place in Temple Bar, coupled with some brilliant live street performances. As you stroll around, you can enjoy food from nearby vendors and stop off at the special Resolution Tree, where you’ll get the opportunity to add your own New Year’s resolution to its branches.

This event is suitable for all ages and it’s completely free to attend, with no tickets required.
