There’s been some beef after the launch of Insomnia’s new vegan chicken fillet roll

The irony of there being social media beef between the producers of two vegan products is not lost on us.

On Tuesday, Insomnia launched their new range which includes a vegan chicken fillet roll.

The Insomnia vegan chick’n fillet roll, which is made using Quorn, vegan slaw, vegan mayo and tomatoes on a fresh sourdough baguette, was created by Guest Chef and Insomnia ambassador Adrian Martin.

Chef Adrian has trained in some of the best restaurants in Ireland, including the Michelin Star Bon Appetite in Malahide, and he is very proud of his latest creation.

“There is a huge interest in vegan dishes and while many are not becoming fully fledged vegans or vegetarians, they are substituting meat across their week in favour of vegetable/vegan options,” Chef Adrian said.

“I thought what better way to show how versatile a vegan menu can be than to take on the iconic Chicken Fillet Roll and thankfully Insomnia agreed!

“I think the Insomnia Chick’n Fillet Roll looks and tastes great and really hope it becomes as popular as the original and synonymous with the Insomnia brand.”

While vegans will likely be delighted with the nationwide release of a guaranteed hangover cure ahead of the Bank Holiday Weekend, not everybody is happy about Insomnia’s newest product.

The Vegan Sandwich Co has taken umbrage with Insomnia’s release because they launched their own vegan chicken fillet roll earlier this year and believe their one is superior.

Having trialled their vegan chicken fillet roll in January, the Vegan Sandwich Co served up their product at the Pride of Place festival in Stoneybatter over the summer.

And it’s safe to say the Vegan Sandwich Co are not thrilled about the arrival of a similar product on Insomnia shelves all over the country.

To be fair, there aren’t many things worth arguing over like a chicken fillet roll, vegan or not.

We, at Lovin, are very tempted to put both vegan chicken fillet rolls up against one another in a blind taste test so stay tuned to our social media channels for that.

In the meantime, you can pick up an Insomnia vegan chick’n fillet Roll at stores nationwide from this week and you can grab a Vegan Sandwich Co vegan chicken fillet roll every Thursday at the Twilight Evening Market and put it to the test yourself.

Let us know which you prefer!
