News has broken this morning that Irish eggs are 100% safe.
This comes after a report revealed that a “small quantity” of eggs supplied to food businesses in Ireland back in June and July were contaminated with an insecticide.
The eggs are as of now no longer available and the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) has stated that as the number of imported eggs in the country is “very small”, the Netherlands egg scandal provides very little risk to Irish consumers.
Speaking today, Chairman Nigel Renaghan of the Irish Farmers Association Poultry Committee stated that Irish eggs are indeed not affected by the Netherlands scandal in any way:
“We can absolutely 100% guarantee you that any eggs for sale in any of the multiple are all 100% Irish Bord Bia approved.”
“If anybody has any doubt whatsoever, look at the egg and once you see IE you know it is Irish and it is 100% safe.”
