Sending children to school in Ireland is getting more and more expensive according to the latest survey from the Irish Credit Union League (ILCU ).
On average, back-to-school spend now stands at €1,209 per child compared with €1,185 last year.
The survey found that one in four parents will have to forego some back-to school items this year while around four in ten won’t be able to afford new school shoes for their children.

Around 29% of parents feel they will get into debt by covering school costs while a quarter view spending on sending children to school as a financial burden.
