Our dreams are made up of sticky toffee buns, ice cream cones dripping with caramel sauce, cream choux cakes and delicate eclairs laced in melted chocolate - sweet stuff indeed.

So the news that Irish restaurants and bakeries will be hosting a nationwide Dessert Festival is making us drool already.

The Dessert Festival will be held from 23 to 29 July, with special treats and workshops

Organisers of the festival say: "Following the huge success of our previous festivals and the overwhelming support from businesses and visitors alike it was an easy decision for us to launch our newest event: Ireland's very own Dessert Festival.

“The festival promises to appeal to everyone from the sweet-toothed dessert enthusiast to the master confectioner. We hope to showcase some of the finest desserts and allow for a few surprises along the way."

Businesses can choose to get involved here and a full event schedule will be released in a few weeks. YUM.
