Lidl Ireland is recalling its Inismara Irish mackerel fillets product due to elevated levels of histamine.
The affected batch has the use by date of July 2 2017 but some consumers may have placed them in their freezers. Those who have are warned that while the label indicates that the product is suitable for home freezing they are advised not to eat it.

Symptoms include:
- Flushing of the face and body
- Nausea
- Burning in the mouth
- Headache
- Faintness, sometimes with blurring vision
- Abdominal cramps
- Diarrhoea
- Wheezing or other breathing problems
- Swelling of the face and tongue
While symptoms typically last a few hours or a day, in rare cases, symptoms can persist for a few days. Those affected are being asked to attend their GP immediately.
