New hospitality guidelines “could be eased in July or August”

James Fenton

New Fáilte Ireland guidelines for the hospitality trade could be eased in July or August as the vaccine rollout continues.

The guidelines were published earlier today and among other things, stipulate that there will be a maximum of six persons aged 13 or over at each table and all patrons must be off the premises by 11.30pm.

However, The Journal has now quoted Government sources as saying that ‘some of these rules come July or August when it is expected that indoor dining can resume.’ One source told the publication: “I don’t think these regulations are the final word for summer 2021.”

Outdoor dining is scheduled to resume on June 7 while a date for the reopening of indoor hospitality could be confirmed in a Government announcement this Friday.
