Galway’s long-awaited, state-of-the-art cinema is finally ready to welcome the public inside its doors this Friday.
Several funding, contractual and structural issues have caused the Pálás Cinema to be delayed.
However, the €8.4 million cinema announced on Twitter today that it will finally be opening this Friday February 23.
The tweet read: “Opening date announcement! Pálás will open this Friday Feb 23rd with evening and night screenings of LadyBird, The Shape of Water & I, Tonya! Tickets for all screenings will be available to purchase from tomorrow.”

The art house cinema will feature three screens with state-of-the-art technology, a bar, a bookshop and coffee shop.
The cinema has been described as a ‘cultural hub’ for Galway.
Tickets for films showing this week are set to go on sale later today.
