PIC: Guinness Irish Nachos Are A Frozen Treat That Ireland Badly Needs

Sarah

Every now and again you come across an American snack that’s so gloriously bad for you, so insanely OTT that you know you’ll never rest happy until you’ve eaten an entire family-size serving all by yourself in the middle of night.

Just me? Nah? Whatevs. Once upon a time the snack of yore was a frozen breakfast burrito, conjuring up images of Tex-Mex exotica on the DART trip into town.

Then, Ireland became overran with burritos and the idea didn’t appeal so much. A photo posted on Irish Reddit however, has just brought a new frozen treat to our attention and it’s honestly a blasphemy that it’s only sold in the States.

It’s Crispy Guinness Breading stuffed with shredded potato, cheese, onions, peppers, jalapenos and bacon…

As one Reddit user puts it: “How is that even remotely Irish and also where can I buy them.”

For those of us who are hearing the term ‘Irish Nachos’ for the first time (I blame the parents), apparently they’re a common bar snack in the US consisting of sliced potatoes or waffle fries used instead of tortillas and loaded with cheese, bacon or corned beef and other toppings.

Petition to bring these to our local pub ASAP? So wrong, yet oh-so right.
