Dinner and a movie – all the more exciting when the two are somewhere other than your own gaff, and Pálás is one place you can trust to show you a good time when it comes to serving up delish food inspired by the big screen.

Galway’s resident arthouse cinema, Pálás also has its very own in-house kitchen. Famous for their monthly themed supper clubs, things kicked off again last month with a delish Japanese spread and a screening of the classic Bill Murray flick Lost in Translation.

Bringing things a little closer to home, this month’s theme centres on Spain combining a tasty three-course tapas menu and a specially curated cocktail with a showing of Pan’s Labyrinth.

A dark fantasy film from director Guillermo del Toto, the storyline follows a young girl fascinated with fairytales. Set in Spain during the summer of 1944, Ofelia is sent along with her pregnant mother to live with her new stepfather. Intertwining the real and the mythical, it’s a powerful commentary on post Civil war Spanish life.

Two supper club sittings have been organised this month – one this evening and another tomorrow – but limited places remain so act fast if you want in. Tickets cost €35 and include your meal, drink and of course, entry to the film.
