People are being encouraged to support local wherever they can as it means the world to small business who may be struggling to survive.

Shops, restaurants and other small establishments across the country have slowly been reopening their doors to the public as they try to get back to some semblance of normality in the midst of a global pandemic.

A difficult time for most everyone, these are especially trying times for entrepreneurs who have the added worry of trying to keep a business afloat when money is scarce and the world is on the brink of recession.

Highlighting the importance of giving custom to local businesses, one Twitter user shared a photo of a handwritten note that appeared outside a small Galway petrol station - alongside a short caption that encouraged people to continue to support local businesses as it could mean the difference between staying open and having to close for good.

"Hey #Ireland...if you are passing by #Dunmore, Co. Galway..Please stop by Elles Daybreak/TopOil for fuel & snacks. Any business owner that feels it's necessary to put a sign up like this, deserves support. They are lovely people, with lovely 99s. #supportlocal #Staycation2020"

All those who know the place banded together in the comments, agreeing that the staff truly are some of the best and that you'd be hard-pressed to beat their home-cooked apple pies on a Sunday morning.

Also making sure to post a follow-up snap of the 'lovely 99s' she mentioned before, it's clear to see Michelle wasn't lying about them being good.
