The latest GIAF performer has been announced.

The 2020 edition of the Galway International Arts Festival is set to be a big one with Sinead O’Connor being confirmed for a headline performance at the event next year.

The announcement follows on from the news that she’ll play three major gigs across Ireland next year as well.

Revealing plans to hit up Dublin, Belfast and Cork, the songstress will also head west where she’ll take to the stage at the Heineken Big Top on Sunday, July 26th, 2020.

Making her return to performing this year, she’s fresh off the tail of a sold-out Irish tour having played the likes of the Cork Jazz Festival along with an intimate gig in Galway’s Róisín Dubh earlier this year.

Described as “one of the true and original living greats of our time”, hers promises to be one hell of a show.

Sinead is the latest name to be added to a stellar line-up,  other acts with headline slots during the festival include Jon Hopkins who will debut his “startlingly unique blend of electronic, ambient and classical music” on Saturday 25th July, along with legendary band The Flaming Lips on Saturday 18th July.

It was also revealed that American rock band Pixie will add a second show to their GIAF schedule. Their gig on Friday 17th July sold out in record time and so a second date has been added to keep fans happy.

Tickets for the Pixies gig cost €52.59 while tickets for Sinead O’Connor are priced at €49.50. Both go on sale from the GIAF website this Friday, December 6th at 9am.
