This Galway pub has a winter wonderland drinks menu that’s to die for

Sarah Finnan

Tis the season to eat all the good food and drink all the delicious drinks…and we couldn’t be happier.

And where better to do so than in the winter wonderland at Massimo, Galway’s most Christmassy pub?

Decked out for the festive season, the interior has transformed into a bopping après ski bar. Resembling a cosy Scandinavian lodge, the place comes complete with a roaring wood-lop fire, gingerbread house and even a forest of upcycled trees.

The beer garden is also a spectacle in itself with its wishing well, the funds from which will go to the Galway Samaritans, and the fake snow that falls intermittently throughout the day. Wrap up because it’ll be a white Christmas in Galway regardless.

Back to the eating and drinking though (priorities and all that).

Introducing a brand-new festive menu, theirs comes complete with luxurious hot drinks, a themed cocktail list and a brand-new seasonal ale in collaboration with The White Hag Brewery.

Winter warmers on offer include a ‘Terry’s Irish Coffee’, ‘Hot Buttered Rum’ and a ‘Hot Pink Gin’ that is sure to keep quite a few of you happy.

And for the cocktail lovers, the Christmas themed additions range from a ‘Brandy Snap’ made with brandy, amaretto, ginger preserve, honey and lemon to a ‘Kandy Kane’ made with vanilla vodka, crème de menthe, milk and white chocolate.

Other options at the winter wonderland include an ‘Evergreen Spritz’, a ‘Coconut Trifle’ (for anyone whose first choice when the box of chocolates comes around is a bounty) and a very Christmassy ‘Mincepie Martini’.

Bottoms up ladies and gents.
