Reacting to last night’s government announcement, owners at 56 Central Restaurant in Galway city centre commented that it was “such a pity” the industry wasn’t provided with more clarity.

Sharing a heartfelt message on social media, they said what many others are thinking – adding that while they are thankful for the support, the past few months have been extremely difficult.

“Such a pity we don’t get any clarity! Sitting around all of us with no idea of our futures.

“Grateful for the financial support but this is just not easy at all.

“Reading tweets would put you to tears so many businesses closing down, staff losing their minds. Of course, we snap back to happy mode …. but the underlying confusion of our lives is not easy at all.

“If you have a job to go to in the morning be grateful tonight and enjoy it!”

Writing that they hope their customers and their families are staying safe and well, owners finished by reminding the community that they are just a phone call away.

“Anyone in need can call on us for support anytime.”

Government last night confirmed that Level 5 restrictions will continue until April 5th at the earliest, with the situation to be reviewed again closer to the time.
