‘Còsagach’ Is The Relationship Trend That Couples And Families Need For Surviving Christmas

In the midst of all the rushing and racing that occurs during the Christmas period, it’s no harm to take a step back and focus on what’s actually important during the festivities.

No, it’s not presents, ffs.

It’s family and loved ones. What good is having a Christmas celebration if the people that you hold closest aren’t around you?

Then, there is the flip side. You begin to spend too much time with these people, they start to wreck your head and you can’t wait until they are out of your sight.

It’s almost a common occurrence for families and loved ones to fight at Christmas time. Maybe it’s because the holiday was hyped up so much that it didn’t live up to expectation, or maybe so much preparation was put into the dinner that it caused each family member to fall out.

Well ‘Còsagach’ is the trend that families, siblings, couples and friends all have to to be reminded about as we head into the final few weeks of 2017.

According to The Sunday Herald, it’s “the hot new lifestyle trend and an old Gaelic word for feeling snug, sheltered, and warm.”

If you feel that tensions are rising and patience are wearing thin, take a back seat, grab and blanket and get everyone to chill out for a few minutes.

If the pressure gets too much in the kitchen, step out and stick on the fire and make sure that the house is nice and cosy for when all the work is done.

Còsagach is all about chilling out when Christmas gets on top of you. It’s about sticking on your Christmas jumper and being all cosy with a mug of tea while it’s freezing outside and basically just chatting shite and having the craic, something we often forget to do at Christmas because of all the activities.

Of course, Còsagach can be and should be achieved all year around but it really comes into its own in winter and especially at Christmas time.

“There is nothing more satisfying than being curled up in front of the fire, book and hot toddy in hand, listening to the weather outside.”
