A family in Laois are left heartbroken after their family pet suffered a “horrendous death” over the weekend.
According to the Leinster Express, the family found their dog – who they had for 12 years – “wired and nailed up to a tree” with broken legs and other injuries.
One of the family members, named John, took to social media to share a message along with pictures and offered a reward for anyone who could come forward and give information about the incident.
The post reads: “Reward offered. This is our family pet that was found in Mountrath in the last few days. He suffered a horrendous death after being wired and nailed to a tree.
“He broke his leg and [had] other horrible injuries. He is always kept in a walled off yard and garden but on this occasion he was let off for a few minutes and strayed off.
“He was elderly in dog years, we had him for 12 years. Some evil people must have came across him and did this.
“WHY? We do not know. If anyone has any information as to who did this, please message me privately and it will be treated with the utmost confidence. PLEASE share to try and not let this happen to another dog, cat, etc. Thanks, John.”
The graphic images were shared by John and have also been re-shared by the Leinster Express in their article.
