Doireann Garrihy Finally Reveals The Truth Behind ‘Boyfriend Stealing’ Whatsapp Notes

She has been ripping it up with the new series of Podge and Rodge but the opening show must not have been easy for Doireann Garrihy.

As the first show was set to hit the screens on RTÉ, rumours were flying around Ireland that Doireann had been involved in ‘boyfriend stealing’ drama.

Whatsapp voice notes were being passed group chats around the country like sweets at Christmas which claimed that the presenter had allegedly split up a couple.

The voice notes – which can be found here – were soon quashed by Garrihy who put up an email from the girl whose boyfriend she had allegedly stole.

She told The Irish Mirror that she was just concentrated on hitting the ground running with the RTÉ show and tried to rise above the false accusations:

“The timing was a bit, I suppose it was bad. But it was also maybe good that I had something else massive to focus on.

“Because it was the first week of [Podge and Rodge] and so I was like ‘eye on the prize I just need to nail this’ and rise above the rumours.

“And the fact there was just zero truth, in it, you know people were like to me ‘could you not sleep at night?’ and I was like ‘well actually I could sleep fine’.”

She seems to be handling the duo fairly well also and the latest episode of the show has been the most popular yet.

Audiences were in stitches and felt like it was returning to its previous glory of the mid-noughties, especially with jokes like “it must be hard to get parking at your house on Father’s Day” to this week’s guest, Kerry Katona being thrown in for good measure.
