Everything you need to know about the Aware Christmas 5km

James Fenton

The Aware Christmas 5km takes place from Friday, December 11 until Sunday, December 13 and this year it’s going virtual.

Aware is one of many charities whose fundraising efforts have been impacted by Covid-19 throughout 2020. Due to coronavirus restrictions, the mental health charity won’t be able to hold its annual Christmas run as normal this year but thanks to the magic of technology, there is an alternative.

The Aware Christmas 5km will take place virtually, allowing participants to raise vital funds without having to travel far to do so. Whether you want to complete the 5km in your living room, do a few laps of the garden or take a walk or jog around the estate – it’s up to you!

Covid-19 has profoundly affected the mental health of people this year and those with pre-existing conditions such as depression are particularly vulnerable. As well as this, Aware have seen many people develop mental health difficulties for the first time during the pandemic. Participating in the Aware Christmas 5km will mean that you are helping to ensure vital support for individuals and families impacted by depression, anxiety and bipolar disorder.

While this has been the year of staying apart physically, it’s never been more important to come together and help out worthy causes such as Aware. The Christmas 5km takes place from Friday, December 11 until Sunday, December 13 and you can register via this link.
