When it comes to the end of the day and it's time to eventually turn off Netflix and hit the hay, we rarely give our sleeping position a second thought.
Whether you sleep on your side, flat on your back or with one leg hanging out of the bed, there has never really seemed to be a right or wrong way to sleep.
However, for any of you who sleep face down (how is that even possible?) you might want to think twice before you lie down and snuggle into your pillow tonight.
According to Women's Health, sleeping on your face can contribute to a loss of collagen in your skin over time.
Visha Skincare dermatologist, Purvisha Patel, said: "Gravity wins when we sleep on our faces."
Puffiness and swollen eyes are caused when gravity pulls the fluid in your face down, and over time, sleeping face-down promotes full-face sagging and loss of collagen in the skin.
Patel's advice is simple - if you don't want to age prematurely, avoid sleeping on your face.
