Hidden Within A Valley In Wicklow Is The Most Expensive House For Sale In Ireland Right Now

Sarah

Want to live in pure paradise? Well, in Wicklow you can, but it’s gonna cost you a cool €28 million.

The most expensive house for sale in the country on Daft.ie as of now, Luggala Lodge in Roundwood, Wicklow, has been described as “the most beautiful place in the world” by English singer Marlene Enright.

Here’s what makes it so special…

It’s tucked away within a secluded valley and is an 18th-century house at the centre of an estate comprising some 5,000 acres.

There are seven bedrooms within the main house, four within the guest lodge and a further 16 bedrooms within SEVEN estate lodges and cottages throughout the estate.

You’d have no shortage of space for guests here.

Heaps of famous guests have stayed in the estate…

Including music icons Mick Jagger, Marianne Faithfull, Van Morrison, Bob Geldof, and Bono who refers to Luggala as his ‘artistic epicenter.’ Michael Jackson called this valley home when he rented the house for eight weeks in 2006.

And the demesne has been used as a location for films such as Zardoz (1974), starring Sean Connery and Charlotte Rampling; Excalibur (1981), featuring Nigel Terry and Helen Mirren; The Nephew (1998), directed by Pierce Brosnon; King Arthur (2004), with Clive Owen and Keira Knightley; and Astérix et Obélix (2012), with Gérard Depardieu.

The estate has been on the market some time now, and while the outskirts of the estate have always been open to the public, there’s concerns that a private buyer could close that off.

What a very special home this would be to own.
