Irish Made: You Can Now Get Irish Owned And Designed Active Wear

Éadaoin Fitzmaurice

Summer brings a new lease of life.

The evenings are longer, the holibobs are approaching and you’re feeling that buzz to get out and get active.

In doing this, I opened my bottom drawer; I’ll admit I hadn’t looked at it in quite some time. Pulling out my usual gym bits, I realised they had really aged over the last while – a few holes here and there, faded colours and the odd stain.

This will never do…

Almost a year ago, I decided to create this series to promote Irish brands and also encourage us all to buy Irish. If you haven’t guessed already, this week I’m shining a light on an Irish owned and designed active wear brand.

Say hello to I-SPY!

I-SPY was set up by mother-daughter duo Paulette and Louise Egan in 2014. They were both passionate about fitness, lifestyle and yoga and wanted to create something that represented that.

Paulette was a yoga teacher and had seen first-hand the problems she and her class were facing with ill-fitting tops and see-through leggings. She had always dreamed of setting up her own clothing brand and this seemed like the perfect time to do so. She partnered with her daughter Louise who would act as the youthful edge with innovative ideas.

They sourced a top-quality manufacturer started marketing the products.

They said:

“We all know the feeling of putting on your favourite clothes, looking in the mirror and feeling your confidence grow. This is the feeling that we aim to create with our range. We want to spread this joy and ensure that all women can feel unbelievably confident in themselves and in the clothes that they’re wearing.”

These two are absolutely killing it and I can’t wait to get my hands on a pair of their leggings – no more holes!

It’s so nice seeing an Irish mother and daughter running a business, too.

Mná-some!
