A Twitter user called Simon Murdoch was taking the train from Dublin to Cork when he made a brand new best friend.
They were strangers to each other in the beginning but bonded over one thing courtesy of Gavin.
Ireland.
Got on the Dublin – Cork train. Packed.
Sit next to bloke. His first word to me:
“Can?” Hands over a Heineken.
What a gent.

The tweet reads: “Ireland. Got on the Dublin – Cork train. Packed. Sit next to bloke. His first word to me: ‘Can?’ Hands over a Heineken. What a gent.”
As simple as that.
Gavin didn’t look for anything in return.
As you can imagine, the tweet – which was posted on February 16th – went wild with the Irish public and as of February 19th, it has 742 retweets and over 6,000 likes.
People took to Twitter to state that the kind gesture would only happen in Ireland and others shared their stories about times that they too had been passed a can on the train out of generosity.
Gav was also munching on some Supermac’s at the same time but did not part with even one chip.
We don’t blame him, the can was more than enough.
