It’s beginning to look a lot like another department store has opened their Christmas shop

Fiona Frawley

We might as well just accept it at this stage. Christmas is here.

Sure, it’s still 19 degrees and we’ve only just about gotten used to schools traffic returning. But that won’t stop the Christmas stockings and novelty pillows filling the aisles of department stores across the country. I’m starting to think the best thing for us to do is just lob on a Santa hat and get on board with it all.

We spotted some Christmas bits on the shelves at Dunnes Stores during the big shop yesterday – we’re talking candles, we’re talking tea towels, we’re talking USA biscuit tins, people. Exciting news for those who did their Christmas shopping during the January sales and have already begun sneakily taking decorations down from the attic, but a tad anxiety-inducing for all of us last minute people. Here’s a sneak peek of what you can expect next time you pop in for milk or for a browse around Savida.

These bits from the Helen James Considered range are all available to buy now.

One for the Live Laugh Lovers among us.

Poor aul Santa getting a grilling before he’s even had time to dust off the red suit.

And of course, every variation of a biscuit tin, selection box and Lindt Christmas bunny imaginable.

Whether we’re ready or not, Christmas is coming. We’ll see you at the 12 pubs.
