Popular Bray pub shares lovely message written on a rock outside

James Fenton

Since Dermot Kennedy appeared on The Late Late Show a few weeks ago, his words have become something of a mantra as Ireland continues to deal with Covid-19 restrictions.

The singer performed his song All My Friends on the chat show and since then, people have been using the lyrics as a source of comfort while we keep our distance from friends and family. Even Leo Varadkar used the words “some summer night I hope to see you again” when announcing Ireland’s roadmap to reopening a fortnight ago.

The Harbour Bar in Bray has now shared an image which shows the work of a thoughtful passer-by. The photo shows a rock with Kennedy’s famous line written on it which was left outside the establishment and it surely speaks for all the punters of one of Wicklow’s favourite spots.

Currently, pubs are set to remain closed until August but this message of hope has us all picturing ourselves sipping a pint in the evening sun. For now, fans of The Harbour’s famous toasties and craft beers will have to make do with the delivery service they started a few weeks back.

Until we meet again, friends.
