Staff At Gatwick Airport Are Currently Writing Flight Info On A Whiteboard

James Fenton

If you or anyone you know is travelling home from England today, there’s quite a humorous surprise waiting for you at Gatwick Airport.

Staff have taken to scribbling flight information on a whiteboard after an IT issue led to screens going down at the airport. This photo, taken by Twitter user Edmund von der Burg, shows workers keeping passengers up-to-date using the much-forgotten system of actually writing.

Addressing the issue, Gatwick Airport has released a statement which reads…

‘Due to an ongoing issue with Vodafone – an IT provider for the airport – our flight information screens are not displaying correctly. Please use the temporary flight boards in the departure lounges or listen for airline flight announcements.

‘We expect Vodafone to resolve the issue soon and would like to apologise to passengers for any inconvenience.’

It certainly brings the memories of school flooding back.
