The Central Statistics Office has revealed the 10 most common surnames registered for new babies in Ireland in 2020.
In its annual Irish Babies’ Names report released on Friday, the CSO revealed that Jack remains the most popular given name for a boy in Ireland while Grace has overtaken Emily as the most popular girls choice.
Other names in the top five for boys are (2) James, (3) Noah, (4) Daniel and (5) Conor. Completing the top five for girls are (2) Fiadh, (3) Emily, (4) Sophie and (5) Ava.
Meanwhile, the report also reveals that Murphy (602) was the most common surname registered to babies in 2020, followed by Kelly (523), O’Brien (467) and Ryan (433).
