This Galway Cottage Has Been Named The Best Rental In Ireland

This super-quaint cottage located near Woodford in Co.Galway and the shores of Lough Derg has been named as the best in Ireland’s rental scene.

The Humble Daisy scored ‘gold’ in a national travel awards scheme by Skyes Cottages which hold ‘The Skyes Gem Awards’ judged by a panel of leading travel experts.

The very pretty thatched detached cottage is run by Mary Rose Donnelly and sits just 100 yards from Lough Derg and 10 miles from Portumna in County Galway.

It boasts many original features dating back to the 18th century and sits adjacent to the owner’s own house.

It is open all year round and sleeps six across its two double bedrooms and one twin bedroom.

The Humble Daisy was originally owned by Mary Rose’s grandparents and the family regained ownership many years ago and restored it over an 18-month period.

Rates range from €450 to €750 per week depending on the season.

The cottage today has a combination of the old and new with features such as exposed stone walls and a cosy open fire.

There’s a bright and airy kitchen with dining area and double doors which lead out to a private rear patio.

There’s even rowing boats for guests to use if you fancied meandering down the river.
