Staff at Sambros have confirmed that, thankfully, no one was hurt.

Already a very trying time, one Limerick café has really been dealt a bad hand – dealing with the aftermath of a small fire that broke out behind the premises during the week.

Updating the public on the situation, the team at popular gourmet sandwich spot Sambros, took to social media to thank people for their patience. A message from staff reads:

“Going along with the trend of 2020, last night there was a fire at the back of the restaurant. No one was hurt thankfully.

“There is an investigation on going with the Gardaí. It is looking like someone set fire to something in the alleyway which caused our gas lines to catch fire. We have been given a week timeline before @bordgaisenergy will be able to fix the gas lines.

“We want to give a massive thanks to the limerick fire department for everything they did last night. We will be back! Stay safe.”

Proving that neighbourly love is rife down in Limerick city, The Buttery Restaurant posted a heartfelt tribute to Sambros – encouraging them to “stay strong” and promising that they will be one of the first ones in to visit once they’re back on their feet.
