Explore Éire: You Can Explore Louth Through A Traditonal Currach Boat

Éadaoin Fitzmaurice

One of the most unique experiences in Louth.

Did you know you can travel through Drogheda via currach?

Meeting at the Sealock on the oldest canal in Ireland, you’ll load up in pairs and head off upstream towards the Battle of the Boyne site.

Along the route, you’ll chat about the movie and TV world and the river’s association with some of the biggest names out there. You’ll pass through fairyland and the doorways to the mythical Boyne Valley – the birthplace of Ireland’s Ancient East and chat about the 5,000 years of history that has shaped a nation and its people.

Turning back at the guard lock we’ll head back to the start point and finish after approximately 90 mins and 3km on the water.

Sounds cool.
