This Stunning Mayo Spot Has Been Named The 11th Best Beach In The World

James Fenton

Coming to so close to glory only to have it snatched away at the last second. Classic Mayo, some might say.

The west of Ireland county is well-known for having one of the best Gaelic Football teams in Ireland, even they haven’t quite been good enough to take home Sam Maguire for the past 68 years.

For the unlucky Mayo footballers, read the county’s stunning Keem Bay which has just missed out on being named as one of the top 10 beaches in the world by Big 7 Travel.

In a new top 50 list, The Achill Island spot finished 11th just behind Pig Beach in the Bahamas but came in one place ahead of Boulders Beach in Cape Town, South Africa.

The list was topped by the ridiculously scenic Golden Horn Beach in Croatia but if you’re in any doubt as to why Keem Bay was included, our recent feature on its natural beauty should clear things up.

Let’s hope for one better next time, lads.
