We’ve reached Day 2 of Snowmageddon and if weather warnings are to be believed, we ain’t seen nothing yet.
With the whole of Ireland now under status red, a level which means action should be taken, here are some things you can do to prepare for the worst.
1. Bring your cats and dogs indoors
Make sure they’re cosy and warm when the worst of the storm hits. Also, make sure their microchip details are up to date.
Our dogs had a whale of a time today in the #snow….just look at their joy!! We really hope that you got a chance to enjoy the snow with your own dogs today and most importantly, that you’re both safe and warm indoors tonight! #Snowmageddon pic.twitter.com/FL3pY9Lddw

2. Buy supplies
Including food, bottled water, protective clothing, medications, batteries, flashlights and, of course, bread. Most of these can be found in your nearest shop.
3. Charge all your devices
Power and electricity can be one of the first things to go and can be gone for days so make sure you have lots of devices and back ups charged.
4. Dig out some candles
Just in case. They’re not just for setting the mood, you know.
5. Clear the snow from outside your house
The more snow that accumulates, the more ice there will be there once this all passes. Grab a shovel or similar apparatus before the worst hits us.
6. Stay indoors
Authorities have warned us to stay indoors from 4pm on Thursday until noon on Friday. They know best so don’t try to be brave just for that killer photo.
7. Check on loved ones
They’re probably fine but there’s no harm in picking up the phone and making sure the folks have everything they need. They’ll appreciate it for sure and don’t forget your elderly or vulnerable neighbours.
8. Fill your car up with fuel
If you haven’t done so already. As Teresa Mannion would say, don’t make unnecessary journeys.
