Sharron

We all know that getting our eight hours sleep a night is important for our health and well-being.

But new research shows that a lack of shut-eye also means you’ll be starving and eating more for most of the morning.

According to the National Heart Blood and Lung Institute in the US, your level of ghrelin goes up and your level of leptin goes down when you haven’t had a good nights sleep, making you hungrier.

Sleep helps to regulate those hormones that control your appetite and when you’ve binged watched a Netflix series until 4am, the lack of sleep puts those hormones out of joint.

So get those eight hours in!
