A Cork Man Is Taking On The World’s Top Bartenders In Mexico City

Sarah

It’s a long way from Cork boi, but Andy Ferreira of Cask bar in the people’s Republic has made it all the way to Mexico City to take part in a world class bartending competition.

Andy secured his spot to represent Ireland at the world’s most prestigious bartending competition by conquering the Irish Finals, which took place in Zozimus in Dublin last May – pretty damn impressive. His winning cocktail range was created from foraged materials, influenced by his heritage.

Over the course of a grueling four-day competition, starting on Monday, Andy Ferreira’s bartending knowledge, skill and flair will be put to the ultimate test when he goes up against sixty of the world’s finest bartenders at the World Class Global Finals in Mexico City.

On representing Ireland at the World Class Global Finals, Andy Ferreira said, “World Class is no easy feat and it deserves your best effort. The competition is going to be intense on all levels. I couldn’t be more excited to head out to Mexico City and represent Ireland, and Cork, on the global stage. Bring it on!”

The World Class programme is “committed to celebrating and elevating the craft of bartending and discovering the best bartender talent”, and is centered on the Diageo Reserve portfolio of spirits including: Ketel One vodka, Cîroc Vodka, Ron Zacapa rum, Tanqueray No. TEN gin, Bulleit Bourbon, Don Julio Tequila and malt whiskies such as Cardhu and Talisker, and Roe & Co.

We wonder what creation Andy will come up with to try take the top spot? Grannies all over county Cork will be lighting their candles for him we hope.
