A Surprising Amount Of Irish People Listed Their Religion As ‘Jedi Knight’ In 2016

The Census figures are a goldmine of useful nuggets of information about the Irish ways of life, but one particular detail escaped un-noticed – until now.

RTE spotted that over two thousand Irish people listed a very, eh, unusual official religion.

An impressive 2,050 people are officially Jedi Knights, the guardians of peace and justice in the Galactic Republic. 

Yep, the Star Wars craze has really taken off.

According to the CSO website the majority of Ireland’s Jedis are men, with 1,722 calling themselves masters of the force.

We wonder if they see Liam Neeson as their god?
