Sport plays a massive role in Irish society. Whether playing or watching, it’s used as an escape, bringing people together in glory and defeat and gives us a welcome break from the stresses of everyday life.
However, it’s important to remember that sport is just that and this message was articulated so eloquently by a player for St. Michael’s in Cork. Minor player Ciaran Adams took to Intsagram over the weekend to inform his followers that while he had lost a county final he had also lost a friend to suicide.
Adams urges others who may be going through similar struggles to speak out about their suffering and the post has been liked nearly 3,000 times on Twitter.
Take a look at the full post below which gives great perspective on life’s little setbacks.
